Engineers

The SFPD has four full time Engineers.  They work a shift of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty.  All four engineer's are trained as a Fire Apparatus Engineer.  The Engineer's primary duty is responding the initial apparatus from the station to the fire scene and operating the pump of that initial apparatus.  Secondarily, the Engineer's have many duties around the fire station.  They maintain the apparatus including major and minor repairs, preventative maintenance and daily truck and equipment checks.  SFPD Engineers also test and repair SCBA.
